MATCH LAKE RULES

PADDOCK LAKE

PLEASURE & MATCH RULES (as at 14/7/25)

  • Day tickets to be purchased from the shop prior to fishing.
  • Manufactured Barbless hooks only and a maximum of a size 10.
  • Compulsory unhooking mat to be used at all times. NO fish to be put on the grass/ concrete under any circumstances.
  • No towels to be used to handle fish at any time.
  • All nets, mats & stink bags are to be dipped in the net dips provided.
  • No braid.
  • No walking fish up the banks.
  • No keepnets unless in a match.
  • No surface fishing, all baits must sink.
  • Free running set up ONLY.
  • 1 rod or pole per person to be used at any time.
  • You must be in possession of a valid UK fishing licence, obtainable via the www.gov.uk/fishing-licences.
  • Anyone under the age of 16 must always be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • No alcohol or illegal substances are to be consumed on site and will result in an instant ban.
  • Catch and release ONLY, NO fish are to be removed under any circumstances.
  • All litter is to be taken home or put in the bins provided.
  • No driving or parking on the grass, NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • ADDITIONAL MATCH SPECIFIC RULES:

  • A float must be used at all times.
  • A minimum of a 6in lash from pole tip to float.
  • No tapping or over-shotting.
  • All buckets and bait boxes should not be washed out in the lake prior to a match starting.
  • No potting bait in with a second pole, whilst you have a pole/ line in the water.
  • Fishing up to and no further than halfway of the neighboring platform.

GARDENING - You are able to fold over vegetation with a holdall etc or LIGHTLY trim the tips of overgrowth. DO NOT pull any reeds out.

  • No tampering with the lake bed, or changing the contours. Only floating debris in your peg can be removed with a landing net.
  • You must fish on the platform/peg provided. i.e no box or platform legs in the water.

 

NET LIMITS

Carp – 60lb. Anything 60-70lb gets capped at 60lb, anything over 70lb you lose the net. If two or more nets are over 70lb it is an instant disqualification.

Silvers- 40lb no buffer.

  • ALL fish are to be netted, and to be transferred into the keepnet using the landing net. DO NOT DROP THE FISH IN.
  • All nets must be dipped and put out behind you prior to setting up and not to be put in until 10 minutes before the match commences.

 

BAITS PERMITTED ONLY

  • ·    A maximum of 2kg dry ground bait. (paste is to be incorporated into the 2kg limit even when made from pellets).
  • ·    pellets
  • ·    Hemp
  • ·    Corn (maximum 5 tins)
  • ·    Maggots/ pinkies/squats
  • ·    Worms
  • ·    Casters
  • ·    Bread (must sink)
  • ·    ‘Bandum’ style Boilies as a hook bait ONLY

 

If it’s not listed here …. IT IS NOT ALLOWED, SIMPLE!
